"Whole Lotta Rosie" is a song by Australian hard rock band AC/DC. It is the eighth and final track on the band's fourth Australian album, Let There Be Rock, released in Australia in March 1977, and was written by Angus Young, Malcolm Young, and Bon Scott. It is also the eighth and final track on the international version of the album, released in June the same year.
The song is about Rosie, an obese Tasmanian woman with whom the singer (Bon Scott) had a one-night fling at North Melbourne's Freeway Gardens Motel. Aside from remarking on the woman's size, the singer considers her to be one of the most talented lovers he's ever encountered.
Angus Young explained:
We'd been in Tasmania, and Bon Scott said he was going to check out a few clubs after the event. He'd gotten about 100 yards down the street when he heard this yell: 'Hey! Bon!' he said. 'Oh well!' he thought as he looked around and noticed this leg. According to what he claimed, there was a woman named Rosie and a friend of hers. They were serving him drinks when Rosie told him, 'This month, I've slept with 28 famous people,' to which Bon replied, 'Oh yeah?!' Anyway, he stated he awoke pressed against the wall in the morning, and when he opened one eye, he saw her bend over to her companion and whisper, '29!' There aren't many individuals who will write a song about a large obese lady, but Bon thought it was worthwhile.
